Specialty Classes

The Tampa Bay Skating Academy offers many different specialty classes within the Learn-to-Skate Program.

The Adult class is a beginning ice skating class for adults that would like to learn the basic skills and feel confident skating on their own and with their kids.

The Parent and Tots class is a discounted program that is offered in the afternoon and is perfect for those parents that would like to learn to skate with their child.

The Special Skater class is another arm of the learn-to-skate program. This class is for physically and mentally handicapped children. Colorful badges are earned as a skater progresses and completes class levels.

The Home School program is a great opportunity to get started in the sport of ice skating. Based on the curriculum of the ISI levels, the home school class is discounted program held in the morning and includes a 2-hour practice session. The is a perfect time to meet other home school children in the area and is a fun way to exercise.

The Theatre On Ice Program is a form of competitive figure skating that is popular in Europe, where it is known as Ballet on Ice. It combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Competition teams include 8 - 30 skaters and are judged by regular U.S. Figure Skating judges based on technical merit and presentation with emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry and musicality.

TBSA also has special learn-to-skate classes for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. With a minimum of 10 skaters (may be combined from different troops), this class is discounted and is available in a 5-week session on Thursday afternoons. This is an excellent troop activity as well as a good learning experience.

Please see each specialty class description for specific schedule and information.
